It's even bigger if you see it in person. Makes the gun about 10 times quieter though... OK maybe not that much, but it makes a difference on the range. Only seen a couple of these, most are the gray ones.

The "balls" on the "cock" are to suppress the report of the lateral discharge (see #239). That open thing at the very end of the barrel allows exhaust when the shell is fired. Lots of split-second pics are on the internet showing this instant with all the fire and smoke blasting out perpendicular to the shell trajectory. Lots of noise goes that way too.
