There are so many anime (statue & posable) figurines in the market now, but since there are still unexperienced people (mostly in developing countries) in buying animango stuffs (maybe i'm one of 'em), they may later feel disappointed after seeing that some items they bought didn't satisfied them so much and would be a problem to refund them back (high prices would be a hassle).

All right, my main focus is about buying female figurines actually...:

  1. Is it only resin the main material in most figurines? Any other types?
  2. How could I know the quality of the figurines before buying them?
  3. What type of figurines that have soft feel (read:squishy ^-^) in certain parts of a figurine and how would I know that?
  4. Is it possible to create a new figurine mold, duplicate a figurine or modding existing figurines? What tools/type of paint I need? (Coz I could customizing stuffs like Gundams and Transformers, so customizing figurines would be a new experience to me).
  5. What is actually the purposes of figurines anyway? (i.e As a collection? To make someone faps (sexual item)?)

Pic related: is this Haruka squishy?

Personally, I just get PVC statuettes, and for the sake of collection. Mostly they simply sit there looking neat, but occasionally someone will comment on them – anywhere from "anime is for pedophiles!" to "I have that one too."

They do make unpainted models, but I don't know anything about it as it's not my interest.

I just bought a set of gashapon figurines. As I expected, they're HARD! I wonder how I want to soften it...

Plastic, Glass, PVC, etc

You can't be sure. This is why I recommend that you hunt for it on stores instead of ordering online. Of course if you want to repaint it at the first place, this may not be an issue.
3. What type of figurines that have soft feel (read:squishy ^-^) in certain parts of a figurine and how would I know that?
Dunno, but I collect figurines not so that I can touch them... So I don't really care

4. Is it possible to create a new figurine mold, duplicate a figurine or modding existing figurines? What tools/type of paint I need? (Coz I could customizing stuffs like Gundams and Transformers, so customizing figurines would be a new experience to me).
I don't know how, but yes it should be possible. Re-molding the figurine is somewhat far fetched though.

The same as the purpose of having original DVD. Collection of course.

Here's my answers

1. Is it only resin the main material in most figurines? Any other types?
Mainly mass produced figures are made with pvc plastic. Some more expensive ones are resin. You can usually find out on the product page.
2. How could I know the quality of the figurines before buying them?
You usually either 1) look at the manufactoring company. Top players include but not limited to Max Factory, Good Smile Company, Alter, Kotobukiya and Alpha x Omega. 2) look for specific figure/reviews with high resolution images once the figure has been released.
3. What type of figurines that have soft feel (read:squishy ^-^) in certain parts of a figurine and how would I know that?
Figures are not meant to be 'soft'. Soft figures usually mean either it's a bootleg, not a figure (eg. plush toys), or your PVC is overheating and is a very very bad thing.
4. Is it possible to create a new figurine mold, duplicate a figurine or modding existing figurines? What tools/type of paint I need? (Coz I could customizing stuffs like Gundams and Transformers, so customizing figurines would be a new experience to me).
I'm guessing all the tools needed for sculpturing would be needed.
5. What is actually the purposes of figurines anyway? (i.e As a collection? To make someone faps (sexual item)?)
Collections and display. Depending on the figure itself, it could range from toys you can play with (figma, nendoroid) to collectors items (I never take mine out of the boxes)
Pic related: is this Haruka squishy?
Nope.

As far as I know, there are only two figures like this on the market, which are Biker Rei and Misato from Sega.

Is it possible to create a new figurine mold, duplicate a figurine or modding existing figurines? What tools/type of paint I need? (Coz I could customizing stuffs like Gundams and Transformers, so customizing figurines would be a new experience to me).

You'd have to cut your figure apart if you wanted to make a mold. Chances are you're gonna lose your figure forever. If you want to customize, Garage Kits are better, but it's an expensive and hard-to-do hobby.

And don't fap to your figure. Bukkake would probably ruin it's paint.
