I thought that if I wanted it and went looking for it, maybe Anon might want it too.
I think the version in the flash videos is this version with a higher pitch, but I know there are multiple versions of this song by different people.

There are three versions of this song:

  1. The original "Boat Song" from Lunar Silver Star Story, which you posted.

2. The high-pitched version, called "Shii's Song", used in the 2chan flash that you linked to.

3. And the high-pitched, sped-up chiptune version, which is called both "Shiilol" or "Longcat's Song", made by Coda and used in the "Longcat's Song" flash.

Um thanks for all of this, but let's not start drama on our lovely board plz? I just got the impression we were above all that :\
I'm not a newfag though. I've posted a great amount of content here, as well as on the other boards kthxs.

I don't see why you have a problem with the format, I take the time to convert all you guys' crazy "mp3" format when I download stuff. I don't know why people use .mod here either, I'd never came across it before, but that's okay.

.mod is demoscene stuff... oldschool Amiga roots.
Rippable, editable, fits in your pocket – unlike MP3 renders of the same which are several times the size and all one piece (and usually, missing all the original comments, too)

As for mp3 vs m4a vs wma vs ogg vs whatever, I couldn't give a crap about that, they all sound the same... Actually I've seen double blind studies that suggest m4a is supposedly better at lower bitrates and blah blah blah donkeynipple, but I'm not a engineer or anything so I don't know. Who knows, Apple probably paid them off, but I personally can't tell the difference and that's all that matters.

Btw, I have a desktop running XP, a laptop with OS X, and another Linux desktop, and I also run a web/torrent server with FreeBSD on it. I use them all pretty much equally, and they all do what I need them to do. So before you start labeling people, take a moment to think about what you actually know about the person on the other end of the network cable. Sometimes you can make assumptions and they're more or less correct, sometimes you can't and end up looking like an asshat. Best to save face.

tl;dr shut up and post more music

Oh, also: if you convert from mp3 to m4a, it's reducing the quality. it's quite noticeable in some songs, listen to the hihats and stuff. You'd be better off leaving your songs in whatever format they came in. (and I would suggest getting another player if yours can't handle all those formats.)
Now as far as mod/s3m/xm/it, those aren't lossy compressed formats so you're fine converting them to whatever. All you're losing in that case is the nice filesize, maybe some witty comments, and the "source code" in a manner of speaking.

Thanks for that :)

It might seem silly but I just like consistency, for all my music as 128-kbps AAC. Quite often I've converted mp3s to this and it's like halved the filesize and I still didn't notice a change in quality, though I'm not a total audiophile.
There's been occasions where I've gone out and bought an album because my digital version was noticeably low-quality.

Also, Bauhaus.

Wow. I download everything in FLAC, then I convert it to VBR V0 MP3. You must have very low standards.

No.1653

FLAC is stupid. Really.
Just download the damn mp3s, especially if you're CONVERTING TO MP3 ANYWAY.

No.1659

FLAC is lossless. As long as I have the storage and bandwidth, It's better to have the originals and downgrade them as I see fit. I convert to MP3 for use on my PMP (because the space on my Cowon is at a premium, baby). However, on my home PC, with several large HDDs, I listen to the original FLACS.

That's fair enough, like I said, I'm not too bothered about quality (unless it's actually really noticeable). I probably could hold my music all as FLACs cos I too have a few big HDs, I'm just not too bothered. It's just easier to find mp3 versions too, where do you get your flacs from?

Also, what do you use to convert them? I have a few Morrissey bootlegs in FLAC, and I used a shitty online file converter, track by track, I'd like an easier, faster way.

Um, some Matisyahu if you like.

Audacity can both important FLACs and export MP3s, though you need another plugin to export MP3. Don't recall it's name but it comes with WinAmp.
