Scott Allie, who is Dark Horse’s Senior Managing Editor: "Comics are, as the saying goes, an original American artform. Japan loves that artform, and calls it manga. We don't need to import the word back in from Japan. It'd be like calling Tex Avery original English-language anime, or Benny Goodman original American ジャズ. It's just jazz, man.

By "American" he must mean "European" unless the dumbass thinks there was a United States of America in 1682.

Then again, Dark Horse sucks on so many levels its not even funny.

No.1103

And why would anyone care about what some faggot American editor say? We'll call it whatever the hell we want, it's their job to listen to us, not the other way around.

No.1201

The term is used to refer only to comics of Japanese origin or style. Batman isn't manga in the US and shouldn't be refered to as such, but if I want to call Hellsing manga then I will. Hell the USA calls its language American English instead of American so I don't want to freaking hear it.
