This. If you want your thread to actually go anywhere, it's a bad idea to force everyone else to play detective just to respond to you.

Although for once, this is one I actually recognize. Otoyomegatari (A Bride's Story) by Kaoru Mori. If you've read her manga Emma, you'll know what to expect: part romantic costume drama, part documentary about everyday life in the 19th century. Except this time it's set in central Asia rather than England. Honestly, the point of the manga is to give the actor an excuse to draw as many incredibly elaborate period dresses and cram in as many historical details as possible. One chapter consists mostly of a man carving wood, while another is all about embroidery traditions of Asian nomad cultures. That wasn't even an exaggeration, see for yourself. There is a plot and some conflict, but it's mostly there to tie all the scenes about animal husbandry and wedding customs together. Not to say that it's not a good manga, just that it's definitely not for everyone.

The main problem that I had with it is that the marriage between a 20 years old woman and a 12 years old boy creeps me out, big time. Especially since it's portrayed in a very positive and romantic way. I get that stuff like this are historically accurate and it's another culture and all that, but it's still rather disturbing.
