Dear Russians,
First I should make one point clear: I certainly do not mind culture-mixing. It is one of the defining features that makes the internet what it is. I am a defender of free speech, and the ability to communicate with everyone around the world is undoubtedly great.
However, when a new culture, clearly unwilling to adapt to the local customs, immigrates and begins to overtake the land with its own subculture incomprehensible to the natives, a line must be drawn. It is simultaneously ironic and saddening that the culture in question is also the very namesake of this site.
The influx of Russian posters here is driving away some of the regular posters, and has turned others hostile. Needless to say, this situation is detrimental to the quality and integrity of the board. I cannot let it persist. Blocking an entire country from posting, especially one this large, is a difficult choice to make. For those having the opinion that my decision was rash, I assure you that it was not; this has been a point of contention for some time. The checkered history of offtopic posts, blatant trolling, spam, abuse from numerous open proxies, and swaths of child porn are more than enough to make it clear that something must be done.
I would like to extend an apology on behalf of all of those who have made this drastic move necessary, to the few legitimate Russian posters who have contributed worthwhile content to this site. I know there are some who would otherwise have much to share, whose voices I have removed unjustly. Hopefully, this measure can be a temporary one.
