There's another compo I partake in once in awhile, as http://www.sdcompo.com . It was originally a renoise-based compo but they've opened it up to practically any module format. As of next round, all entries require an MP3 render, so you don't need renoise to actually listen to the tracks, which is nice for those of us that use Linux.
Next round starts in a couple of days, and coincidentally uses a sample pack I submitted, so I thought I'd see if anyone was interested. Clocking in at 16 megs, the sample pack is a little more varied & hi-fi than your typical compo.
>coincidentally uses a sample pack I submitted
What coincidence ;)
Im going to take a look I think. Your samplepack here a while ago was nicely put together. So it could be fun.
I took a look a sdcompo a while ago, but then there was that Renoise problem, so I left the site.
Round has started. I don't think there's any rules prohibiting me from entering a tune, and I'm being honest about it. But ironically I'm having a really hard time getting something with these samples. :P
Also, for fun and profit, here's my entry from the last round. Placed 5th out of 14, not bad considering that round was a VSTi round and I so I used all drum samples. And decided to try not using chip samples either... It fucks up in anything besides recent schismtracker but that shouldn't be a problem for users of this board.
Made use of an interesting technique of retriggers for a synth, and changing the tempo/speed to control the pitch. Did something like this a long while ago when Storlek hosted a compo where you could only use 2 samples.
