I just tried the november 10 version. So far, it's great. I absolutely love schism tracker and it's getting better all the time. One feature i haven't been able to use in schism tracker is the caps lock key preview. If i remember correctly from IT times, when in pattern screen i could hold down caps lock and press other keys to hear them. Was good for improvising melodies without never leaving the pattern screen. Is this feature in there ? I am using the software on mac os x.
Not implemented... yet.
I don't think SDL even has a way to identify when caps lock is being pressed down – it might have to be a toggle thing, but even that's somewhat unreliable. (heck, look at all the nonsense that has to be implemented to get num lock to function properly)
I remember talks about adding a keyjazz-recording mode, where you could hit a key and then it'd record note sequences to a temporary pattern. Kinda like a weird combination of scroll lock and the clipboard. Never got past initial concept though.
Thank you, i totally understand. Just being curious but... Do you keyjam at all when composing ? I use the instrument screen to keyjam these days, which solves the need for caps lock although it's not as instantaneous.
I usually use the pattern editor, so if I stumble on a nifty melody I have a record of what keys I was pressing.
does capslock keyjam work now?
