issues from irc (5)

because no one seems to pay attention to the irc channel anymore, or even join it for that matter, i'm copying this stuff here in hopes that someone still gives a crap about this board. where did all the devs go?

<LordNLptp> I believe I've found a bug in latest cvs of schismtracker: if you play tssf's megaman 9 s3m remixes (will paste url), the last (few?) ticks of the last row in each pattern are not played
<LordNLptp> this worked fine in 0.5rc1
<LordNLptp> or close to fine
<LordNLptp> link: http://tssf.gamemusic.ca/Remakes/GIBStuff/tssf_mm9_nsfs.zip
<LordNLptp> try playing wilystg2.s3m in both versions, you should hear the issue
<LordNLptp> another issue with 0.5rc1 was that one of virt's fx2 songs, 'shell shock', had some severely messed up notes later in the song, which impulse tracker gets correct
<LordNLptp> http://ftp5.untergrund.net/users/rez/disk/ibm/virt-fx2.zip
<LordNLptp> v-shock.s3m within that archive
<LordNLptp> the issues are later in the song, and trust me you WILL hear them

If you're interested in getting this fixed, please take a moment to try and find/make the smallest possible song that exposes the bug. If you're not LordNLptp, then ask them to do it. I'll assume you are LordNLptp since it makes the rest of this easier, but if I'm wrong, don't take offense; simply mentally substitute "you" for "them" below.

Since you know exactly which song in what channels are wrong, you should have no problem finding the note (or notes) and copying them into a new song.

Shorter is better- 5 seconds or so is ideal because I may have to listen a dozen or more times to get them to match. 15 seconds is a long time for what I need to do to fix it, but if it's something like a resonance problem that only kicks in after a minute, I'll take what I can get.

You can then post these test cases to the board. I'll diskwrite using Impulse Tracker, and load the resulting pair into Schism, find the bug, and either fix it, or reply back here why I'm not fixing it.

To answer your other question, I've got a lot of things going on right now, so I can't be on IRC all the time. "The Devs" is one dev, and I've tried to reply to every problem posted to this board, but everyone seems to drop it, assuming I have the time (or inclination) to download random songs, groove out, be disgusted by "how wrong it sounds compared to IT" and fix it.

I don't have time right now. If I get a reasonable bug report, and someone interested in following up on the bug, I'll make an effort to fix any problem posted here, otherwise it'll probably be a while longer...

Take it easy. I enjoy schism a lot, i know it's hard work. It's great as it is.

I have a lot of respect for what you do.

>>4371 I know you do xonox, and don't mistake this for anger.

Didn't mistake what you wrote for anger but i thought you'd like a little encouragement :)
