I can't promise anything except that i'll test the next build for a couple of bugs i encountered doing experiments with Schism.

I read the changelog every week at least once. Thanks for the mac binaries, they work well.

I've seen the bug reports about the 020210 build, i'll post bug reports once i grab a new binary. I'm experiencing some bugs in the 020210 version but i think they'll be fixed in the next build.

I think one of the most worthwhile contributions someone can make is simply being an active user – posting here, saying hello once in a while on irc, reporting bugs / missing features / esoteric wishlist requests, etc. I have heard from one or two people that they'd thought Schism Tracker was a dead project since there's not much activity here, and because it's such a quiet userbase. I suppose the two feed off each other to some extent, too.

It's my favorite music software. I use it very often.

Should i post about it on various forums and websites ? People seem to ignore its existance. Even if it's one of the best trackers ever.

Should i post about it on slashdot ? (yes i'd do that, if you want). Well, if they accept my post. Perhaps you should write the post yourself if you want it to be perfect...

Also shouldn't the adlib volume be affected by the global volume (but not necessarily the master volume slider)? Comments in the code say it's not, but that seems wrong, and not very useful.

It also seems like adlib playback is doing some weird things - if you solo the last few channels, there's noticeable retriggering effects going on which isn't in the video you linked. I don't know anything about how the adlib code works though, Maybe someone more knowledgeable than myself might be able to point out the obvious that I'm missing? Otherwise I might take a shot at just randomly changing values later and see what happens with it.

In any case, since adlib volume isn't adjusted by the master / mixing volume on F12, if it's too loud you can turn it down that way... but that answer is lame :)

Oh – and what is that player? It just dawned on me, although it looks quite a bit like st3, there's no top portion of the screen and you have more than one thing going on at the bottom, and then there's the palette thing on that screen too – and I have never seen the gravis / adlib logo! :o

Right now, I have the annoyance of having to scroll up every time I want to start in the middle of a module.

Those DSP effects are gone and will not come back, and were stripped out after a quite heated debate on irc. Adjust the equalizer appropriately for your soundcard and speakers. ^{_{though I do wonder why it's not possible to attenuate frequency bands with it :/}}

I plan to add chorus/reverb "eventually" as a channel effect via Zxx, in the same way that filters currently work. (Configuring an external reverb unit via midi is mentioned in passing in MIDI.TXT as an example of something "else" you can do with Zxx.)

Should be fixed, mostly. I bet you were using a multisampled instrument with a nonlinear note/sample mapping, because that was totally broken.

Where did the Bass expansion feature go? (also like Reverb etc)
Is it still available but hidden somewhere?

Regardless of how it was saved, if it's over that size I think that means it's too big.

Though it seems that the only reason it's so big is because it's got duplicates of the samples instead of mapping the different instruments to the same samples. I dunno about anyone else, but I would let that one go.
