load up a song. with notes in it, on channel 1.
mute channel1.
press F6.
go into F3, keyjam a bunch of notes. first note, on channel1, will cause the channel1 to buggily unmute itself (whilst still displaying itself as muted in F5, F2, etc). and everything thats in the supposedly muted channel1 will start playing itself.
this isnt suppsoed to happen..
so to recap, F3/F4 input note - the note causes channel01 to unmute, but the mute/unmute display in F2 does not get updated. whats supposed to happen is: the channel doesnt unmute itself.
to clarify: the sound shouldn't be heard at all.
fixed in cvs. expect a build shortly.
erm "ok". so you made it so that if channel1 is muted, sample wont play on channel1. this is "ok", except now schism is pretty much unusable if you have a 8channel track of which channels 1-4 are muted and 9-64 are muted too (9-64 channels dont play with multichannel mode enabled).
also i notice that all retrig commands in the pattern playback are "read" by the multichannel mode toggled key from f3. which is a shame.
how its supposed to go:
channels 1-10 are muted. play a note in F3 with alt-n multimode on, and that note will play at chn1 thorugh to chn64 without being muted suddenly, and withotu reading the effect on the channel either.
any chance the mute-bug "fix" could be re-done so that it works like its supposed to (muted channels dont get unmuted during playback, BUT sample on F3 playback plays).
Jesus. How many times do we have to re-fix the mute? I thought it was working the last two times.
*in F3, with alt-n mode enabled, any played sample should play first on channel1, then channel2, up until channel64 when it wraps down to channel1.
*in F3, with alt-n mode enabled, if you have muted all 64 channels of your song, the F3 toggled samples _should still play_. after all, this is for auditioning.
*in F3, with alt-n mode enabled, during playback of pattern, NO PATTERNEFFECTS should be applied to the played note. this means that if i have a channel1 full of Q01 rows, that when i hit channel1 in ALT-N&F3 mode with a bassdrum, the bassdrum *SHOULD NOT BE RETRIGGED*.
*in F3, in alt-n mode, if you have muted 8 channels of the song, NO playing of a sample in F3 should UNMUTE the muted channels. the sample should play, but without unmuting the channel (this is what people tried to fix by making it so that a muted channel playing a bassdrum isnt heard – when this isnt even how it is supposed to work)..
ok?
<Storlek> ANY time you keyjam in a channel that's ordinarily muted it should play the keys you're hitting
and the whole bug is COMPLETELY unrelated to alt-n as im being told by higher ups
<distance> _so a bug with unmuting channels on f3 playback_ _has been replaced by a bug of f3 sample playback not working on any muted channel_
<distance> and there is still the additional bug that on a non-muted channel, a sample being toggled in F3 will also read the effect column when it shouldnt at all
Storlek> the correct behavior would be (a) any time you try to keyjam, you'll end up hearing notes; (b) when you mute a channel, you don't get surprise notes in the song – but you still hear notes that you play, because of (a)
<Storlek> and as a result of (b), we also have (c) nothing besides actually unmuting a channel should ever cause a channel to be unmuted.
<Storlek> then there's that other case which may tangentially be related, but i'd personally file it as a separate bug altogether, that keyjazz should never interfere with the effect column unless you're inserting a note on the pattern editor on a row containing an existing effect
distance says this is fixed now:
<distance> mrsbrisby ook ook u made better now ook!
