i've noticed it's only possible to mark a block/column/pattern and copy it into the clipboard. but i want to be able to copy only the unmuted channels into the clipboard. something like a "what you hear is what you get" when playing wit alt-f9.
how would you recommend the user do this? what keys should someone press to make this happen?
i toggle channels with alt-f9, mark everything with 2*alt-l, copy data with alt-c, and paste/mix data in a empty pattern with alt-p/alt-m. then i mark muted channels and cut out data with alt-z. 2*alt-f10 to unmute all channels. i suggest using keys alt-shift-l to mark all unmuted channels (maybe alt-shift-2*l to mark all muted channels) and then copy data with alt-c etc.
hm.
i never really liked multi-modifier-key bindings...
two fingers shift-l would be easier.
As in Shift-Shift-L?
Dunno if that'd be possible on all OSes.
Just "Shift-L". Fits nicely under "Alt-L" and "Shift-Arrows" in the Block Functions Help list.
Ohhhhh.
What should happen if you press S-L while on a muted channel?
Should the selection be disturbed if entering chords (hold-shift, enter notes)?
Well, L isn't a note-playing key, so I don't think that will cause too much trouble unless someone fatfingers a chord, and based on mckmn's decscription I don't think the channel would have any effect on the selection. So it seems like a pretty sound choice for a key. :)
think it would be lush if this was finally added. would make some stuff incredibly fast (jams, improvisation)
This is implemented now.
Shift-L now copies like Alt-C, but only the non-muted channels.
