On Windows, this is the difference between SC and the diskwriter (5)

Even though the diskwriter is set at 44kHz, it sounds more like 22 or even 11kHz. File attached.

Doh! It was Windows Media Player using some kind of wierd setting. Cool Edit Pro (for instance) doesn't have the 'undersampling' problem at all.
